Love the colours - hate the trouble *film* Day 242

I did, admittedly disposable underwater Fuji, use film this summer. Two rolls actually :-D

I love the colours, or so I thought!

Scanning is PAINFUL. I had the film developed on Samos, they scanned them, I thought the colours were good but when looking at them, I suddenly realized something was wrong. The frames were cropped and stretched. Initially I thought I was making the mistake when pressing the shutter since it was kind of weird mechanical handle to push down... but then I checked the developed rolls and it WAS as I remembered!

Unluckily I was already in Turkey with only a day to unpack & repack so I developed the whole thing again in Slovenia. I specifically asked them not to crop the frames. They didn't but the colours were just completely different and soooooo washed out I could throw the whole disc (more expensive than in Greece, strangely) straight into the bin!! Practically unusable!! Different program to recalculate the negatives - different results. Grr!

(In the end I uploaded Greek scans. I had to ignore the weirdly stretched ones. I did once combine both scans to fill in the missing part but that was way too much work!!)

Only this image - lower down - was passable. I liked the golden sand. The sky is more washed out. Actually it's also my fault, I should have brought my digital down to the beach to take this pic but I didn't feel like carrying 2 cameras.... a disposable just cannot handle this situation. Still, I kind of like it.

Long live the film!! I need to buy a film Canon camera body (to use the lenses I've got!) to enjoy it.

Disposables are just not the way to go. Still, the results were pretty surprising (good)!! I did shot each situation twice/trice to be sure. Outdoor (it's supposed to handle skiing the little disposable underwater Fuji - I was shocked ;-P) photos were rather hmmmm... not best. It certainly could not handle swimming pool with a waterfall. But still, some quite good pics came out of it. So all in all, I'm happy.

BTW the little disposable gives you absolutely NO control. There's only the shutter handle, and a manual winding of the film...

The merman *film* Day 241

After seeing the shot from day 241 (I had the film developed and scanned) I decided this is a must. I just really really wanted more of those sun reflections on the skin! It electrifies my merman :-D

I wish there were fish swimming around him too... then again I cannot get it all, huh? ;-P

Taken with Fuji disposable underwater camera loaded with ISO 800 film.

Scanned twice and combined in PS since on one scan half of his head was missing. There's still hair missing compared to the negative I took but the 3rd scan was really not good so in the end this is it. I've decided that I kind of don't mind him going for air i.e head bobbing on (photo) surface ;-P

Life cannot be completely mapped out *film* Day 240

This was supposed to be half underwater half above. Hmmm. Does not work on Fuji disposable underwater camera. It's loaded with ISO 800 film, hence that grain.

I kind of liked it, so I decided to do a similar shot the day after (Day 241).

Harmonious Day 239

From Samos. Close relations between Greece and Turkey. Not always harmonious. On the left you see part of Samos, Greece, the rest on the right is Turkey. The sun, thankfully, is international ;-D

I was looking at this scene every breakfast time. Few days gone by and I was really itching to take it, so one morning a hauled my camera up there and here we go.

I liked the blueness of this scene but the yellow smog fog of the colour original prompted me to check BW. I haven't turned back. Taken at around 9 a.m., shot straight into the sun, manual exposure, then converted to monochrome, no vignetting was added at all. Again I'm getting the silvery feeling, all for silver lately :-D

Yap, a bit of flare is visible on the right and I haven't bothered to remove that palm tree, somehow I'm ok with it lurking there in the corner and I guess I'm slightly lazy ;-P

Fairy forest Day 238

Olive grove. I love olive trees. In harsh day light they look like forest of silver. Sometimes when they grow on grass which turns yellow in the summer, it all looks like fields of silver on gold.

We were driving around the island of Samos (Greece), we were pretty far from touristy places when we encountered this plantation. Magical. It held me spellbound this sight. Of course I wanted to capture it =D

I'm half expecting an appearance of a unicorn with silvery mane and a silvery-green clad fairy poised gracefully on top. Oh, the imagination!

About this photo: this is SOOC. Well actually, it's not, because my Aperture is playing me and I had to desat a bit to get back to SOOC values. Aperture needed to be reloaded what can I say. Anyhow, I let it almost blow out in order to appear ethereal and silvery.

Me again Day 237

As I mentioned for the day 236 all my pics of me look very different (I started taking them only during 365), I look very different on them (at least IMO). So I wanted to see, if I shoot another SP, will I look different again?! Yep, I think I do. I was surprised. Must be my multiple personality showing through hahaha.

Tones are adjusted.

Now I'll go and shoot anything but my face, tired of looking at myself.

Payback time Day 236

(I was chasing him around, now he's chasing me! hahaha)

Shot into the mirror, hubby holding camera, me directing, PP work is mine as well, quite possibly slightly overdone ;-P
