Sprintime Day 73

In Istanbul trees started blooming and I find it's such a pretty site. Oh, please don't picture too many blooming trees, it's just beginning. I really had to go for a close up since the surroundings are still pretty bleak. Still, tis gives me such a positive feeling!

On likables, lovables and new feelings ;-* Day 72

I LOVE THIS PHOTO!! And that's a new feeling for me ;-D

Actually shot of the day is yet another flowery macro but with more flowers to come that's rather boring, so I did an edit (post processing) of the day instead. Took this in January, harsh sun, deserted beach club.

This gives me a cinematic feel.. Would you agree?? The 365 Community techie challenge of the month is a cinematographic shot and I'm not sure if this would fit. It does however fit the 365 DPS (alternative) assignment "Life" - this two form my family nucleus :-D

Colorize my world Day 71

My hubby prefers diptych and I'm quite happy about it since I cannot decide. Both have slightly too limited DOF (my 1st macro lens, so I'm learning not to use tiny f numbers in this kind of shots - even though I had to previously in my "fake" macros)

I also noticed I love extreme contrast and high pass filter in BW. They're my faves (www.mojcas365.blogspot.com) but I'm choosing colour for the pic of the day since the weather is crap & I'm traveling tomorrow back to minus Celsius and not looking forward to that at all.

Green

Lilac

The gift of love Day 68

I saw an exhibition called Museum of broken relationships http://www.brokenships.com/ and it was far from what I expected to see. It's all about special meanings we assign to the objects that in the end turn to symbolize our relationships. There was an odd wedding dress and a ring but also a mobile phone, a toiletries bag, a ticket, a bookmark...

Then I started thinking about which object marks my relationship? I came up with a handmade ring, because he's not arty at all and because I appreciated the effort but would have preferred "a real thing" at the time. I was too young to know any better. This turned out to be just the temporary solution until the picky me could find what she wanted. Before you hate me, let me tell you that this is worse, far worse. This is not an engagement ring. It's a boyfriend-gave-me-this-to-prove-we're-serious ring. Anyhow, years later I still have both rings and I cherish this one way more. This is the love ring that substitutes all the letter he never wrote to me, all the songs he never sang and all the ballads he never played. The bought one is beautiful and it only took the money, this one took a lot of love.

I found it hard to present this ring, firstly it only make sense to be photographed from above. I chose that exquisite box to portray the emotional worth of the ring. I chose black background because it's so me (and all the things that form it are of course mine). The textures because there are so many layers of me. I don't think I did the best job photo-wise yet I learned a lot.

I partially solarized the image and kicked myself for choosing a narrow DOF because it took forever to get the focus just right.
