My 2nd year into 365 photo project (simply put - a photo a day project) to learn, to spark my creativity, to document my beautiful surroundings... at the moment that means Istanbul, Turkey. It will be a magical journey for me and I hope you'll enjoy it as well!

Sweet street dog Day 201
Yap, Istanbul is full of them. I actually like the notion that this pic has 4 quadrants in sense of composition.
Entrance of a little Sarıyer mosque Day 200
Just because I liked the colours. Muslims leave their shoes in front, enter barefoot and very often cover their heads (obligatory for women of course). For me it was quite quirky the first time I entered a Turkish Catholic church - there was a sign to take your hat off and keep shoes on. A cultural difference I forgot to account for :-D

I was laughing so hard my camera was shaking Day 198
Many Istanbulis like to pose and ask to be photographed. They're not interested in the image afterwards, they don't even look at the photo. I photograph them since it makes them happy. Yet this time I was shaking with laughter when he decided on the pose.
So, yeah, it's fun photographing in Istanbul ;-P

Contrasts, Istanbul is full of them Day 196
A bit of explanation for those who need it - muslims, before entering a mosque for prayer perform a ritual cleansing. This photo shows 3 parts of a fountain, 1st used by a man getting ready for prayer (hopeful person), one empty, one occupied by a desperate person. I liked the contrast. Later on I realized (I've returned to that place several times) that he's actually homeless. Hence the desperation. I hope all goes well for him. Good luck unknown person!
