Today's photo (right one and I added left one for the balance) is, I'm first to admit, absolutely pointless. The day was grey and drab so this photos were grey and drab too. Added XPro filter so now at least I like the colours. Oh and I guess I needed to get pointless out of my system...
My 2nd year into 365 photo project (simply put - a photo a day project) to learn, to spark my creativity, to document my beautiful surroundings... at the moment that means Istanbul, Turkey. It will be a magical journey for me and I hope you'll enjoy it as well!

Long and difficult road ahead - should be fun Day 47
Huh, some days are just... a challenge. Or rather, some days are full of challenge(s). Plan A failed. Plan B cracked at the end. I did a remake of a photo I like, an intimate selfie, which in the end I found too intimate to upload online (nah, it was only bare back, but it was too suggestive - and to those who don't know me - I'm no prude). So operation successful, patient died ;-P Now I was really in trouble...
I decided to stick with the self theme and acknowledge my current feelings so I tried my first composite (yes, ever). Composite is an image containing elements of several photographs [in my case road shot and photo of me]. There are many I've admired lately and I have fab ideas, high-flying wishes and all that but the first needed to be simple. Kind of. I had to adjust a full colour image to the BW bleached version. Not to mention slight movement to static. Oh, it's quite crude. Apologies but I do have to start somewhere, right? I plan to look at it at the end of my project and laugh ;-)
The road image is from Kerkyra / Corfu in Greece. Pretty much mid of nowhere but I love that place. Summer dress is happy to have gotten a gulp of fresh air today even though it was only for a short photo shoot. And yes, well, that's is me ;-D

I'm thankful for the rainbow darling, for the love I receive, for the love I give Day 46
When entering an old mosque or any other historical building in Istanbul, rule No.1 is to look up. Real treasures can be found decorating ceilings, sometimes the light is incredible, sometimes the structure is amazing. The ceiling of this old mosque belonging to the complex of the Dolmabahce palace is nice for sure, but the chandelier is something else, especially when reflecting refracted daylight. Multiplicity of rainbows, what more could I possibly want??!! :-)
detail of the chandelier and the ceiling:
yet another photo ;-) ups, a mistake here on the next one, camera is just a machine... the ceiling is rather orangey and here it looks yellow, the walls are yellowish though, so I guess the WB got confused. I'll correct it later in the PS and replace it
and his majesty the chandelier
(need to take this one again, there's too much light)
this thing is huge, any adult can stand beneath it without touching it, to give you a sense of scale (the place was deserted when I was there)

Kaleidoscope sans colours Day 45
Honestly, I thought it's time to do some studio stuff at home, I had this whole concept for one-survivor choc photo in my head, shot set up and then electricity said bye - power cut due to stormy weather. Candles out and new idea in my head. I love the shadows cast by my Ghost chandelier. I played a bit and solarized the image. I always wondered about the solarization. The filter almost seemed redundant. I've never used it before. Well the result reminds me of kaleidoscope, with colours missing of course, I keep expecting the shapes to move...
original photo (i.e. before solarization in BW)
and the Ghost
(looks pretty harmless during the day
just like all the other ghosts LOL)

Memories created can never be erased?!? Day 43
Lately I notice beauty in the most unusual places. Nice, that. Behind the beach this time. There are still patches of snow covered by thin layer of sand that seems to thermo insulate the snow below. Very interesting [foreground of the photo posted is actually snow covered by sand and the white patches are footprints].
I used a fake polaroid layer on top of the original photo to create the old feeling. Oh, yes, even the original photo is nice, I just felt like playing a bit ;-D
I actually prefer the second, square shot, for being more ethereal, but the first one is so much better at telling the story.

Honey, baby, I'm sorry, I won't be getting home anytime soon Day 42
For days I was itching to go for a walk on the beach up to that stranded ship (from day 31) but the weather would not allow it. Finally. So the poor thing is actually stuck even more that the previous one was (we seem to get one a year) and won't see open waters for a while.
Today's set of photos is dedicated to Jo with admiration and the warmest wishes.

Of course it was a drab day but the colours of the sea were just beautiful:
